Junior Java Backend Developer

We are seeking a talented and driven Junior Java Backend Developer to join the mission to make financial services accessible and improve the lives of millions of people in Africa and emerging markets.

Requirements

• 1+ years of commercial experience in Java 17+, programming skills and its core libraries
• Analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Spring Framework knowledge
• Experience with PostgreSQL
• OOP & Design patterns
• Upper-intermediate-level of English
• Basic understanding of microservices
• Experience with AWS services (Lambda, S3, SQS, SNS) will be a plus

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services
• Resolve technical problems, critical thinking on development approach
• Design and implement RESTful APIs for various financial products
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance service performance and scalability
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of the development process
• Troubleshoot and debug issues in a distributed microservice environment
