Data Engineer

Axon is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join a fast-growing Construction Tech startup that is transforming the way construction sites operate. By leveraging IoT technologies and real-time data analytics, our platform captures data from on-site devices — including weight sensors, GPS, gyroscopes, and cameras — to generate actionable insights. These insights empower construction teams to make informed decisions, boost productivity, and enhance safety. As we scale our operations, we’re seeking skilled engineers to help us strengthen our data infrastructure and deliver smarter, data-driven construction solutions.

You’ll build and optimize scalable, cost-efficient data pipelines that process information from our IoT devices. You’ll work closely with our Israeli R&D team, working in data infrastructure, writing data pipelines, making data accessible for different applicative needs, and empowering data analysts and scientists.. This is a hands-on, impactful role where you’ll help shape our data systems as we grow.

What you need for this position:

• 4+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
• Proficiency in Python and SQL
• Production experience with Spark (preferably Databricks)
• Familiarity with Kafka and/or EMR
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL)
• Experience with ETL/ELT tools and job orchestration (e.g., Airflow, Dagster)
• Intermediate+ level of English for communication with colleagues.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity and experience with PowerBI.

What you will be doing:

• IoT Data Pipeline Development: Develop and maintain pipelines that collect and process data from edge devices currently equipped with weight, GPS, gyroscope, and camera sensors.
• Cost-Efficient & Scalable Architecture: Continuously improve pipeline performance and cost efficiency.
• Data Integration & Transformation: Implement ETL/ELT processes to integrate diverse data sources into structured, analysis-ready datasets.
• Data Infrastructure: Work with PostgreSQL, MySQL, Kafka, and Databricks to manage our analytical and operational data.
• Monitoring & Quality: Set up monitoring and validation systems to ensure data reliability and integrity.
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate with Product managers, software engineers, data engineers, analysts, and data scientists to support feature development and reporting. Take part in discussions and steering around changes to our tooling as needs and requirements come.
• Continuous Improvement: Explore and introduce new tools such as stream processing frameworks, orchestration platforms, and IoT-friendly data systems to improve performance and flexibility.
