AI Operations Engineer

Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for an AI Operations Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Europe. Our client is a developer of an automated operations platform that combines IoT hardware with AI-powered applications to automate vehicle and equipment tracking, driver safety, compliance, maintenance, spend management, and other key operational tasks.

You’ll play a pivotal role in integrating artificial intelligence into the software development lifecycle, boosting engineering productivity, accelerating automation, and enhancing code quality. This role focuses on operationalizing AI tools and frameworks (such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, and LangChain) within a complex full-stack environment built on Golang and Ruby on Rails, and supporting infrastructure in AWS. AI Operations Engineer will serve as a bridge between AI-powered automation and software engineering operations, identifying areas where AI can deliver measurable improvements, creating reusable frameworks and best practices, and guiding developers on how to effectively leverage AI tools for code generation, testing, and incident resolution.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, or automation roles, with a focus on backend systems.
• Hands-on experience with AI-powered developer tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, or Codex for code and test generation.
• Deep understanding of prompt engineering and LLM integration workflows (e.g., OpenAI APIs, LangChain).
• Experience with test automation frameworks, including writing and refactoring automated tests.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, and cloud environments (AWS preferred).
• Expertise in identifying, designing, and operationalizing AI-driven improvements in engineering processes.
• Experience building or deploying AI agents for developer productivity, QA automation, or incident management.
• Knowledge of vector databases (Pinecone, Qdrant, Weaviate) and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures.
• Familiarity with SRE, DevOps, or on-call incident response automation.
• Understanding of software observability stacks (Prometheus, Datadog, Grafana) and how AI can enhance operational insights.
• Experience with LLM orchestration, LangChain, or LlamaIndex in production settings.
• Strong knowledge of Golang or Ruby on Rails, with the ability to read and modify existing codebases.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to guide and mentor other developers on AI adoption and usage patterns.
• Proactive self-starter who thrives in ambiguous environments and can turn broad goals into concrete AI automation initiatives.
• Curious and pragmatic individual with the ability to balance experimentation with production reliability.
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, able to work with product, QA, and infrastructure teams.
• Strong documentation and communication habits with the capability of producing clear guidelines for internal AI adoption.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for leveraging AI to modernize engineering workflows.

Responsibilities

• Implement embed AI tools and frameworks into the existing engineering ecosystem to enhance code generation, automated testing, and developer efficiency.
• Operationalize AI copilots (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, Codex, etc.) within engineering workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
• Implement and manage best practices for prompt engineering in unit-test and integration-test generation, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and maintainability.
• Build reusable modules, scripts, or templates that integrate AI into day-to-day development and release activities.
• Design and deploy AI-based automation to improve CI/CD reliability, test coverage, and deployment quality.
• Leverage LangChain and LLM orchestration frameworks to connect AI models with internal services, developer tools, and test systems.
• Integrate AI-powered agents for test authoring, performance analysis, and operational incident support (e.g., automated triage and recommendations).
• Collaborate with DevOps and SRE teams to introduce AI automation for build pipelines, test execution, and error-resolution flows.
• Serve as an internal expert and advocate for AI-assisted software development, guiding engineers on prompt optimization and AI tool usage.
• Define, document, and evangelize AI-based development workflows, patterns, and productivity metrics to enhance the overall effectiveness of AI-driven development.
• Conduct experiments to identify where AI can deliver time savings and quality improvements across the SDLC.
• Partner with senior engineering leaders to prioritize automation opportunities and scale successful approaches across multiple codebases.
• Analyze and interact with code across Golang, Ruby on Rails, and Java frameworks to identify automation opportunities.
• Review and refactor AI-generated outputs to ensure compliance with coding standards, performance expectations, and security requirements.
• Collaborate closely with backend, QA, and DevOps engineers to validate and continuously refine AI-driven solutions.
