Deputy head of finance

We are growing our finance department and are looking for a Deputy Head of Finance — a strong analyst and operational partner to the Head of Finance, who will take ownership of management reporting, financial process control, and support key management decisions. 

We expect that you:

• Have a Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, or Accounting and Auditing
• Have 4+ years of experience in finance/economics (management accounting, FP&A, controlling), including at least 2 years in a managerial role (deputy head / team lead / head of unit) and at least 1 year in a service / IT / outsourcing business
• Have a deep practical understanding of P&L / BS / CF and the relationships between financial statements
• Be able to build plan-vs-actual analysis and analyze deviations by price / volume / mix / FX
• Understand the principles of service business unit economics: utilization, billable rate, revenue per FTE, gross margin per project/client
• Be proficient in Google Sheets / Excel: using advanced formulas (INDEX/MATCH, ARRAYFORMULA, QUERY, XLOOKUP), pivot tables, and Power Query
• Have experience building financial models from scratch, including scenario analysis and sensitivity analysis
• Be able to work with large data sets (10k+ rows)
• Have experience preparing a management reporting pack for the CEO: monthly and quarterly reporting, KPI dashboards
• Have experience with DSO/DPO, AR aging, cash flow planning, and payment calendars
• Have experience with cost allocation methodologies (direct/indirect, overhead allocation) and building cost centers
• Have experience working with management systems — BAS, SAP, Odoo, Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, etc
• Have experience managing a team of 2–3 people (economists/accountants), assigning tasks, ensuring quality control, and building/optimizing processes.

 Nice to have:

• Hold ACCA / CIMA / CAP-CIPA certification (full or partial) or a DipIFR (IFRS) qualification
• Have experience preparing data for auditors, analyzing prior audit reports, or tax planning
• Have English at B1 level or higher for reading financial documents and written communication
• Have knowledge of IFRS for businesses with foreign-currency revenue;
• Have experience with BI tools (Looker Studio, Power BI) and payment systems (PayPal, Wise, Payoneer, Revolut)
• Are interested in AI / LLM tools for analytics (Claude, GPT).

Key responsibilities:

• Operational management of the Finance Department within delegated authority: covering for the Head of Finance during absences, coordinating economists and accountants, ensuring month-end closing deadlines are met (by the 7th working day), and final numbers are accurate
• Management reporting and unit economics: controlling P&L by business units / projects / clients, calculating utilization, billable rate, gross margin per project/client or per FTE, supporting pricing and rate cards, preparing the internal reporting pack
• Management accounting: maintaining P&L by business units / projects / clients
• Analytical dashboards and automation: developing KPI dashboards (Google Sheets / Looker Studio / Power BI), optimizing data flows from CRM/ERP/HRIS into reporting, handling ad-hoc requests from C-level executives
• Supporting the transition to Odoo: validating data from BAS, UAT for Accounting/Project/Invoicing modules, configuring the chart of accounts and analytics, preparing BI dashboards based on the new system.
