Database Administrator

For our Client travel tech entrepreneurs, who changing the way millions of people travel we are looking for Database Administrator.

The Role:

Our Database Administrator will play a crucial part in maintaining the operational integrity of our PostgreSQL databases, ensuring seamless performance and reliability for our mission-critical systems. The Database Administrator will spearhead tasks such as capacity planning, performance optimization, and implementing robust backup and recovery solutions, ultimately facilitating the smooth functioning of our innovative virtual interlining technology and enhancing the overall travel experience for millions of users.

Responsibilities:
● Operational Management: Oversee operational tasks encompassing hardware, architecture, configuration, integration, and the maintenance of mission-criticalProduction PostgreSQL databases.
● User Management: Manage users and permissions, including the addition of new users and removal of inactive accounts.
● Capacity Planning: Estimate PostgreSQL database capacities and develop methods for monitoring database capacity and usage.
● Backup and Recovery: Implement backup, restoration, and point-in-time database recovery procedures.
● Replication Setup: Configure streaming replication and logical replication solutions.
● Problem Resolution: Analyze database-related issues and implement effective solutions. Undertake database upgrades, migrations, and other administrative projects.
● Performance Optimization: Conduct database performance reviews to ensure optimized and efficiently performing queries before production release.
● Query Tuning: Fine-tune queries and perform preventative maintenance to enhance database performance.
● Maintenance Activities: Execute regular scheduled maintenance on the database server, such as vacuum analysis on large tables to eliminate obsolete data.
● Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor database performance to identify slowdowns or potential issues proactively.

Requirements:
● Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
● Proven experience as a Database Administrator or similar role (5 years), specifically with PostgreSQL databases.
● In-depth understanding of database management systems, with a focus on PostgreSQL.
● Utilize experience in PostgreSQL administration on Linux platforms.
● Demonstrate proficiency in Linux shell scripting to automate database management tasks.
● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
● Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
● Proactive approach to identifying and addressing database performance issues.
● Experience with database backup, recovery, and replication techniques.
● Knowledge of database optimization and tuning strategies.
● Familiarity with monitoring tools for database performance evaluation.
