Senior Python Engineer (with Healthcare Industry experience)

We are seeking a talented Senior Python Engineer to join our dynamic team.

What is this project about?

A US-based startup is developing a hybrid virtual care coordination service, powered by a clinical pharmacy. The platform supports patients who are prescribed five or more medications by providing access to clinical pharmacists who optimize medication management, improve adherence, and coordinate care across providers to enhance patient outcomes.

What is the team size and structure?

Our team consists of a Project Manager, a DevOps Specialist, a QA Specialist, and a Senior Python Engineer.

What does the interview process look like?

- Recruitment interview — up to 30 minutes;

- Technical Interview — up to 1 hour;

Requirements:

• 4+ years of commercial experience in backend development with Python 
• Knowledge of Django (or similar Python frameworks) for building scalable services.
• Experience working with healthcare data standards (EHR/EMR, HL7, HIPAA compliance).
• Familiarity with data integration pipelines (payer claims data, HIE feeds, patient ID matching, MPI).
• Understanding of databases and data warehouses (Snowflake, Tuva, relational DBs).
• Strong understanding of data security, privacy, and compliance in healthcare.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to optimize workflows, and reduce manual processes.
• Upper-Intermediate English 

Nice to have

• Experience integrating with external systems and APIs (e.g., EMRs, Zoho, RingCentral, Bee Texting).

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop backend services to support clinical pharmacists with faster, automated medication research and intervention tracking.
• Build and maintain integrations with EMR/EHR systems, ensuring smooth push of pharmacist recommendations into provider systems.
• Implement an intelligence layer for managing complex drug interactions and diagnostic testing integration.
• Develop data pipelines for ingesting and processing payer claims data, HIE feeds, and patient records (MPI matching).
• Optimize workflows to reduce pharmacist time per patient (goal: 14 patients daily vs. current 4).
• Create monitoring and feedback systems to shorten the recommendation loop from weeks to days.
• Collaborate closely with the product team, pharmacists, and other engineers to validate and harden workflows in production.
• Ensure security and compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations.
