We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to help our client deliver high-impact software solutions that bridge the gap between complex technology and real business problems

Our client is a forward-thinking company that thrives on innovation and delivering impact at scale. And now we are looking for a Software Engineer who will design, build, and maintain software systems that directly deliver business value. In this role, you will focus on code quality, architecture, and reliable delivery, while leveraging AI tools to enhance productivity and reviewing AI-generated code to ensure it meets high standards.

Embedded directly with business units such as Commercial, Manufacturing, and R&D, you will operate like a “startup CTO”, bridging the gap between product development and solving real business challenges. You will take ownership of the discovery-to-scale pipeline, identifying patterns and enabling validated solutions to be generalized into enterprise capabilities by Platform Engineers.

This role offers the opportunity to shape organization-wide technical strategy and architecture, define strategic direction, influence practices across the company, and maintain visibility in the industry. You will thrive in a complex environment, creating clarity from chaos and driving meaningful outcomes across the business.

What you'll do in this role

Delivery: Drive delivery of the most critical technical initiatives, establish engineering delivery practices across the business unit, and be the technical authority on high-stakes projects
People: Develop technical leaders, shape engineering talent strategy across the business unit, and build high-performing engineering teams
Business: Shape technology-driven business strategy, represent technical perspective at executive level, and be recognized as a bridge between engineering and business
AI: Design AI-augmented engineering workflows for your area, evaluate new AI tools, train engineers on effective AI usage, and balance speed with verification
Scale: Lead architectural decisions for complex systems across teams, establish quality standards for your area, mentor engineers on architecture, and own technical debt strategy
Reliability: Establish SLOs/SLIs across teams, build resilient systems, lead reliability initiatives for your area, mentor engineers on reliability practices, and drive reliability culture
Documentation: Establish documentation standards across teams in your area, build knowledge management systems, and mentor engineers on effective technical writing
Process: Drive process efficiency within your team, coordinate cross-functional technical work, and lead retrospectives

We're looking for

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
12+ years of relevant experience with a proven record of organization-wide technical leadership.
Lead full-stack development, leveraging AI tools to accelerate delivery while ensuring high-quality outputs.
Define organization-wide technical standards, architecture, and best practices.
Drive the discovery-to-scale pipeline, identifying patterns and enabling solutions to scale across the enterprise.
Mentor and guide engineers in areas like architecture, AI-augmented development, code quality, service reliability, and developer experience.
Influence culture across the organization around curiosity, ownership, collaboration, and precision communication.
Fluent English.

How to knock our socks off

Experience working in forward-deployed engineering or embedded with business units.
Familiarity with chaos engineering, site reliability practices, and large-scale data integration.
Demonstrated ability to deliver rapid prototypes, validate solutions, and generalize patterns across teams.
Naming five or more dishes that include beetroot besides borshch.
