Middle Java Engineer

We are looking for a Middle Java Engineer to join a US-based aeronautical project.

The client 

The client is leading the world’s digital revolution in geospatial information management. Whether mapping the natural world or building infrastructure, their systems sit at the heart of the programs that aim to maximize the efficiency of managing complex spatial data and contributing to the world’s solutions for reducing the human environmental impact on our planet, enabling more sustainable utility asset management that underpin many of the things we take for granted such as water, energy, telecommunications, and their security. 

What is this project about?

The project is responsible for the import and export of external data formats. It operates within a data management workflow, reading and writing an Oracle database holding aeronautical information. The workflow system uses the rest API to initiate and monitor jobs. The data model is based on the industry standard AIXM, an XML application schema for aeronautical data. AIXM is complicated, including a temporal model, nested complex properties, and many references between features.

Who are the people I am going to work with?

The team includes 3+ experienced developers, a Project Coordinator and an Account Manager.

What does the interview process look like?

– Pre-screen interview – up to 30 min;

– Test task – 15-30 min;

–  Interview with the Client – up to 1.5 h.

Requirements: 

  • 2 years of experience with Java;
• Proficiency in using Java OO design patterns;
• OOD SQL skills, ideally with Oracle experience;
• Experience with algorithmic development and Quad Trees;
• Experience in continuous integration and delivery practices.;
• Experience in deploying to cloud provider infrastructure (AWS or Azure);
• Aeronautical, government, or defense sector experience will be a strong plus;
• Experience in spring-based applications with Spring Boot;
• Experience of data manipulation and handling large and complex data sets;
• Upper-intermediate or higher level of English.

• Full lifecycle of development;
• Support, maintain, and document software functionality;
• Software development, modeling, simulation, testing, and quality assurance;
• Maintaining and improving existing codebases and peer review code changes;
• Investigating and using new technologies where relevant.
