PHP Developer

Rock&Apps is looking for a reliable and proactive PHP Developer who enjoys building scalable backend solutions and taking ownership of their work 🚀

In this role, you’ll work on real product features, design and improve APIs, and collaborate closely with frontend developers, QA, and managers to deliver high-quality solutions.

What you’ll do

- Develop and maintain the backend of web applications using PHP and Symfony

- Implement new features and improve existing functionality

- Design, develop, and maintain REST APIs

- Work with databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL), write and optimize queries, and use Doctrine ORM

- Participate in code reviews, refactoring, and overall code quality improvements

- Write unit and/or functional tests

- Integrate external services and systems (APIs, queues, third-party services)

- Collaborate with frontend developers, QA engineers, and managers

- Take part in task planning and effort estimation

What we’re looking for

- 1.5–3 years of experience with PHP development (PHP 8)

- Hands-on experience with Symfony (preferably Symfony 6/7/8)

- Understanding of OOP principles, SOLID, and MVC

- Practical experience with Doctrine ORM

- Confident knowledge of SQL and experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL

- Experience designing and developing REST APIs

- Experience working with Git

- Basic understanding of HTTP, REST, and JSON

- Basic experience working with Linux

- Ability to read, understand, and work with existing codebases

- Responsibility, independence, and the ability to work effectively in a team

- Strong motivation to grow and learn new technologies

Extra points if you have

- Experience with Docker, CI/CD, and containerized environments

- Experience with queues and async processing (RabbitMQ, Redis)

- Experience writing automated tests (PHPUnit, Pest)

- Experience with Redis and API Platform

- Understanding of DDD and Clean Architecture

- Experience working with high-load or scalable systems
