About the Role 

We’re looking for a Database Administrator to join our team and contribute to our cloud database operations on Azure.

You’ll work as part of an established DBA team, supporting production and pre-production environments. The role involves hands-on work with Azure SQL Managed Instance and related technologies, with guidance from a team lead and collaboration across engineering teams.

About the Project 

Our client operates a large healthcare ecosystem across the United States. The Insight Research Portal is an internal platform used by thousands of users to manage and monitor research activities, bringing complex processes into a single system.

Who are we looking for?

Responsibilities:  

  • Support and maintain database environments (production and pre-production) together with the team
  • Participate in troubleshooting and resolving database and application issues
  • Contribute to query optimization and performance improvements
  • Assist with backup/restore processes and environment stability (including PITR)
  • Work with ADF pipelines and data integration processes
  • Collaborate with developers and other teams to ensure smooth system operation
  • Contribute ideas and improvements as you gain familiarity with the system

Skills & Experience: 

  • Azure SQL Managed Instance: Good understanding of its architecture, management, and key differences from standard SQL Server
  • SQL Server & T-SQL: Solid working knowledge of relational databases, query writing, and performance basics
  • Azure Data Factory / SSIS: Experience with ETL processes and data integration workflows
  • General Azure Knowledge: Familiarity with Azure application resources and best practices
  • Troubleshooting: Ability to analyze and resolve database and application issues in a structured way
  • Communication: Comfortable working with English-speaking teams
  • Work Schedule: Willingness to participate in a rotating shift model

Nice to have: 

  • Experience with performance tuning tools (Query Store, Extended Events, indexing, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps pipelines and release processes (at a working level)
  • Basic scripting skills (PowerShell, JSON)
  • Experience with Git or code management practices
