Join the Infrastructure Team at a top N. American Bank

Are you an experienced data center operations leader who enjoys running a global colocation footprint entirely remotely — directing vendors, remote-hands, and on-site contractors to keep racks humming on two continents? Do you love working with smart people on meaningful technology? Want to work in capital markets at a top North American bank? If so, read on.

The Role at a Glance

  • Data Center Operations Manager (6+ years in data center / infrastructure operations, with at least 2 years directing remote-hands or on-site contractors at colocation facilities)
  • Fully remote for a top N. American bank (for residents of Poland only)
  • Owns global DC footprint across AMER and EMEA — 6 primary sites, ~50 racks, ~1,000 devices
  • 100% remote management: all physical work executed by remote-hands, smart-hands, and on-site contractors
  • Manages remote DC staff and on-site contractors

We're hiring an experienced DC operations manager (6+ years) to own the day-to-day operations of the bank's global data center footprint — availability, capacity, and lifecycle across colocation facilities in AMER and EMEA. You'll lead buildouts, decommissions, vendor coordination, and DC automation, partnering with Network, SRE, Security, and Finance.

This is a remote management role, not just an engineering position. All physical work at colocation sites is executed through remote-hands, smart-hands, and on-site contractors — you direct that work, never perform it in person. The role combines vendor and contractor management with sufficient technical depth to validate remote hands work from photos, diagrams, and telemetry, and Python proficiency to maintain and extend the internal DC automation codebase.

Why Join Us?

  • Own the global data center footprint — 6 primary sites, ~50 racks, ~1,000 devices across Equinix AMER and EMEA, including exchange colocations (NASDAQ Carteret, TMX MCC, PICO).
  • Collaborate with a world-class team of network engineers, SRE, security, and procurement.
  • Enjoy the stability of a long-term, fully remote role that only a bank can offer.

A successful candidate will be a strong operator with deep experience managing hardware lifecycles, vendor relationships, and on-site contractors — all from a remote position. They'll be comfortable in NetBox, Jira, and Confluence, fluent in PDUs and structured cabling enough to validate work remotely, and able to maintain and extend Python-based REST-API integrations. English proficiency is a must.

This role is for professionals who want to own a global DC footprint end-to-end — from BOM through handover on new buildouts, through steady-state capacity and uptime, through decommission and NIST 800-88 sanitization. If you enjoy directing vendors and contractors, enforcing data quality in NetBox, and producing the monthly reports that tell leadership what's going on across the estate, this role is for you.

This is a fully remote DC operations role for a manager in Poland. You will be working through a Polish company that will provide the support and administrative assistance to make you successful in the role. We are looking for people to join the team long-term.

To ensure efficient onboarding, you'll maintain a solid overlap with the American team during US Eastern business hours for the first two months — working this way maximizes your time overlap for answering questions, which means you can learn quickly. After that, the team is flexible: a 2+ hour daily overlap with US Eastern is the steady-state requirement, which gives you a lot of flexibility in how you work. Occasional after-hours or weekend work is expected for maintenance windows and incident response.

Only open to residents of Poland. Polish citizens, as well as legal residents with permission to work in Poland, are welcome.

What we offer

  • Work that matters in the financial domain: Run the data center footprint that the bank's trading infrastructure depends on.
  • Professional growth: Collaborate with smart, highly capable engineers in a supportive and challenging environment.
  • 1st-tier work: This is not a technical support or back-office role. The footprint is actively growing, and you will lead new-site and new-cage projects from BOM through handover.
  • Long-term commitment: This is not a fixed-scope or fixed-term outsourcing role; we value people who want to grow and contribute long-term.
  • Flexibility & remote work: Fully remote position based in Poland with increasing schedule flexibility post-onboarding.

Responsibilities

  • Own uptime, change execution, and physical documentation (elevations, cabling, power, cross-connects, access lists) via NetBox and photos from on-site contractors.
  • Plan rack space and power (kW, PDU A/B balance) per site; audit power draw and approve new device placements.
  • Run the remote-hands / smart-hands model end-to-end: clear work instructions, defined escalation paths, SLAs, and post-task verification.
  • Enforce NetBox data quality.
  • Manage full asset lifecycle from purchase to disposal, including NIST 800-88 media sanitization with chain-of-custody, executed by on-site contractors.
  • Direct new-site and new-cage projects remotely from BOM through handover; coordinate cage provisioning with vendors.
  • Maintain and extend the internal Python codebase that automates DC operations (device classification, lifecycle dates, purchase reconciliation, shipment tracking, power analytics, Jira and Confluence integrations).
  • Line-manage remote DC staff and on-site contractors; define DC procedures (access, visitors, media handling).
  • Produce monthly reports on uptime, capacity, spend, open Jira DC work, and upcoming risks.

Requirements

Must have

  • Experience managing hardware lifecycles and understanding server components.
  • Strong knowledge of PDUs, structured cabling (Cat6/MMF/SMF), cross-connects, and cage security.
  • Proficiency with NetBox (or equivalent DCIM), Jira/ServiceNow, and Confluence; comfortable with L2/L3 topologies, server BOMs, and power/airflow specs.
  • Working Python proficiency: able to maintain and extend REST-API integrations (NetBox, Dell, Foreman, Jira, Confluence) using Python or equivalent language.
  • Experience directing remote-hands / smart-hands and on-site contractors at colocation facilities.
  • Excellent written communication.
  • Ability to maintain a 2+ hour daily overlap with US Eastern business hours (with a 6 hour overlap during the first two months of onboarding).

Nice to have

  • Equinix IBX, NASDAQ Carteret, TMX MCC, or similar exchange/colo knowledge.
  • Understanding of server rack power management.
  • ITIL change management.
  • Bitbucket / Git workflows and Jenkins scheduled job execution.
  • Exposure to AI-assisted or agent-based tooling.

The recruitment process

  1. Submit your CV.
  2. Answer a few written questions which you can do at your own pace.
  3. 30-minute screening conversation with the hiring manager.
  4. A three-interview technical round (45 minutes each) with the hiring manager and two additional team members — focused on discussing your experience, understanding your depth in DC operations and Python, and walking through operational and problem-solving scenarios.

We ask you not to use AI tools during the recruitment process. We want to evaluate your knowledge, ability, intuition, and depth of understanding. Intelligent use of AI tools is encouraged in the workplace; this restriction applies only to the written exercise and interview process.

Successful candidates will need to pass a standard background check.
