We are now looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test for PitchBook.

About the role

We’re seeking a motivated and experienced SDET to join our FinTech project team. In this role, you’ll be instrumental in developing and ensuring the quality of an AI/ML-powered Large Language Model (LLM) that helps users quickly surface relevant data from our vast datasets. Our software provides access to data and analytical tools, uncovering actionable insights and trends hidden within the financial data of more than three million companies. It’s used worldwide by large corporations, startups, venture capital and private equity firms, investment banks, and many others.

Work Environment

Scrum-based Agile
Work schedule: 10:00–19:00 UA time (flexible)
Collaboration with a distributed team for organizing the SDLC process.

As a qualified expert, You will:

Collaborate with Data Scientists and ML Engineers to design testing strategies for AI/LLM components, including prompt engineering, data validation, output verification, and performance benchmarks.
Perform manual testing on different test levels.
Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for backend, API, and AI components.
Create automated UI tests using Selenium, Selenide, or alternative frameworks.
Implement and manage automated API tests to ensure consistent performance, reliability, and accuracy.
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for efficient and reliable releases.
Promote best practices in testing, code quality, and software engineering, providing actionable feedback throughout the development lifecycle.
Work within a cross-functional team to identify, report, and resolve bugs and performance issues.

We’re looking for you if you have

4+ years of experience in QA or SDET roles, with a strong foundation in both manual and automated testing.
A proactive mindset and the ability to set up and improve testing processes from scratch.
Solid expertise in Python and hands-on experience with building and maintaining test automation frameworks using Pytest.
Strong experience in Selenium or Selenide for UI testing and knowledge of modern API testing tools (e.g., Postman, REST Assured, or similar).
Proficiency in writing and maintaining unit tests.
Understanding of AI/ML models or LLMs and how to validate them.
Hands-on experience with data manipulation and validation using Pandas, NumPy, and SQL.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to quickly identify and troubleshoot complex issues.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills within a cross-functional team.
Problem-solving skills with the ability to tackle complex QA challenges promptly.
Experience working with Git-based workflows and CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar.
English — Intermediate (B1 and above), Ukrainian — fluent (both spoken and written).

Bonus Points

Understanding of AI/ML testing principles, including prompt evaluation, data validation, and output analysis.
Experience testing for model fairness and bias detection.
Experience in writing and maintaining unit tests in Python.
Familiarity with LangChain, LangSmith, or LangGraph for building and testing AI/LLM-driven applications.
Knowledge of the FinTech or investment domain.
Experience with performance and load testing tools such as JMeter or Gatling.
Familiarity with DevOps practices, including Docker, Kubernetes, cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure), or infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform).
Knowledge of security testing practices and tools (OWASP Top 10, Burp Suite, etc.).
