POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Database Administrator Specialist to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and security of our organization’s databases. This role requires a strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices, along with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize database performance. It is vital that you have good communication skills and a proven ability to work well with both technical and non-technical colleagues and be comfortable working with minimal supervision.

General project description The project is a greenfield digital banking platform focused on delivering secure and scalable financial services within the GCC region. Built with a DevSecOps-first approach, it combines modern cloud infrastructure, automation, and best practices in CI/CD to ensure high availability, compliance, and performance. The core architecture embraces microservices, containerization, and Infrastructure as Code principles, offering the engineering team full ownership and flexibility across the entire delivery lifecycle. The platform is designed to support B2C and B2B use cases, including advanced payment workflows, user onboarding, and scalable backend services.

YOUR BACKGROUND

5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role
Proven experience with database management systems with PostgreSQL (other Databases are appreciated e.g., MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server)
Experience in database security, backup, and recovery
Proficiency in SQL and database management tools
Strong understanding of database structure, theories, principles, and practices
Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database) is an advantage
Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus
English level — B2

RESPONSIBILITIES

Design and implement database systems based on user requirements and performance considerations
Develop, manage, and test backup and recovery plans
Ensure data integrity and security by implementing and enforcing database policies
Monitor and optimize the performance of databases, including query optimization and indexing strategies
Perform regular maintenance tasks, including data purging, index rebuilding, and performance tuning
Manage database storage, including disk space and memory allocation
Implement and maintain database security, including user permissions and roles
Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and industry best practices
Diagnose and troubleshoot database issues, ensuring minimal downtime
Provide support to development teams for database-related queries and performance issues
Conduct regular security audits and respond to security incidents
Collaborate with other IT professionals to integrate databases with other systems
Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures
Generate reports and provide insights based on database data
Stay updated with the latest database technologies and industry trends
